Bird Watching
Hengistbury Head is a famous viewpoint for bird migrations. You can easily walk from 'Windy Willums' up onto the top of the 'Head' and spend happy hours watching birdlife - Autumn and early Spring are the peak times for migrations.
Fishing
Brilliant opportunities for Beach casting, Mackerel fishing and Wreck fishing can be enjoyed in many locations in the area and the river Avon offers some of the best fishing anywhere.
The Royalty Fishery is of special note being of high national status - a real premium destination for keen anglers.
Walking
Walk from 'Windy Willums' to Bournemouth, Highcliffe, Christchurch - enjoy the beach, parks and gardens. A short drive will get you into the fabulous New Forest with endless walks to choose from...at it's best August - November

Photography
Where else can you find such a convenient mix of great photographic subjects. Wildlife, Landscape, Street and Beach, Macro, Floral and Abstract are all easily enjoyed from the Windy Willums base. Mudeford Quay is a great starting point, early morning and evening being the best times for camera work - but at any time you can have some real photo fun.
Garden visiting
Within easy reach of Windy Willums are some of the best gardens in the UK. Exbury is world reknowned for it's collection of Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Abbotsbury Tropical gardens is worth a visit anytime but in Spring and Autumn the local climate can convince you that you are in much warmer climes. Compton Acres is a 10 acre gem right in the middle of Canford Cliffs, it's especially well known for it's Japanese style garden. MacPennys is an old-style nursery with a delightful woodland garden alongside.
